GM Issues Stop-Sale Order on Certain 2025–2026 C8 Corvettes

Jimmy J. and his 1966

In the fall of 1968, I returned home from Vietnam with enough savings to buy the car of my dreams, a 1966 427 Corvette Coupe. I loved that car. It wasn’t just transportation, it was freedom, pride and a symbol of a new beginning after a difficult chapter of life. But as it often goes, life had its own plans. Marriage, children, and responsibility… and before long, that Corvette became a memory, a dream I carried with me for the next 57 years. Now, at 78 years old, that dream has come full circle. That’s right, I’ve found and purchased another well-preserved 1966 427 Corvette Coupe. And let me tell you…it feels just like it did back then. Like hearing your favorite song from years ago, the kind that takes you right back in an instant. This car wasn’t just built in 1966…it was built for me. These days, I find my greatest joy in the simple things. Driving out to Cars and Coffee. Standing around with people who lived it, who understand it. Sharing stories, laughing, remembering. Because in the end, it’s not just about the cars. It’s about the life we lived…the roads we traveled and the dreams that, somehow, find their way back to us.
